Basic Information
Cellulose is an organic compound. It is a polymer (specifically a polysaccharide) which is made up of individual units made of Glucose monomers. Cellulose is the main structural component of the primary cell wall of green plants. It makes a plant's cell wall sturdy, and it is what gives wood its remarkable strength. It is also the most common organic compound on Earth. About 33% of all plant matter is cellulose (the cellulose content of cotton is 90% and that of wood is 40–50%).
